General Tips
Before You Start
- •Always check the care label inside your garment for specific instructions
- •Test any cleaning products on an inconspicuous area first
- •Wash darks and lights separately
- •Empty all pockets before washing
- •Fasten all buttons and zips to prevent snagging
By Material
Care Instructions
Cotton & Cotton Twill
- ✓Machine wash at 30°C on a gentle cycle
- ✓Use a mild detergent
- ✓Turn inside out before washing
- ✓Hang dry or tumble dry on low heat
- ✓Iron on medium heat if needed
- ✓Store folded or hung
Linen
- ✓Hand wash or machine wash on DELICATE
- ✓Use cold or lukewarm water
- ✓Use a mild detergent
- ✓Do not wring, gently squeeze out water
- ✓Hang dry away from direct sunlight
- ✓Iron while slightly damp on medium-high heat
- ✓Embrace the natural creasing, it's part of linen's character
Wool & Flannel
- ✓Hand wash with wool-specific detergent
- ✓Or machine wash on COLD with delicate cycle
- ✓Never use hot water, heat will shrink wool
- ✓Do not tumble dry
- ✓Reshape while damp and lay flat to dry
- ✓Store folded with cedar blocks to prevent moths
Raw Denim
- ✓Avoid washing for the first 6 months to develop natural fading
- ✓When ready, hand wash only in cold water with mild detergent
- ✓Turn inside out
- ✓Hang dry away from direct sunlight
- ✓Store folded, never hang denim by the waist
- ✓Dye migration onto lighter garments may occur, vinegar solutions or dye fixatives can help, but will slow the natural aging process
- ✓Spot clean minor stains instead of full washes
Leather & Suede
- ✓Never machine wash or submerge in water
- ✓Wipe clean with a damp cloth
- ✓Use a leather conditioner every 3-6 months
- ✓Store in a breathable garment bag
- ✓Use a suede brush for suede items
- ✓Keep away from direct heat and sunlight
- ✓If wet, let dry naturally, never use heat
Polyester Linings
- ✓Machine wash at 30-40°C
- ✓Use cold water for best results
- ✓Do not tumble dry, hang dry instead
- ✓High heat can break down synthetic fibres
- ✓Iron on low heat if needed
